The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) USA Minnesota Chapter convened its biennial convention on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, where delegates and partisans overwhelmingly reelected George Harris to serve another two-year term as Chairman.
In his acceptance remarks, Chairman Harris expressed profound gratitude to the delegates and partisans across the state for once again reposing their confidence in his leadership. “I am deeply humbled and honored by the trust you have placed in me to serve another two years,” Chairman Harris said. “This mandate is not mine alone—it belongs to every partisan who believes in our shared vision for a better Liberia. I pledge to serve with integrity, diligence, and an unwavering commitment to our common cause.”
Other elected officials installed during the convention include Leroy ZB Nuah as Vice Chairman for Administration, Solomon Johnson as Deputy Chairman for Operations, Ernest Kwia as Secretary General, Mohammed Kanneh as Assistant Secretary General, James Momo as Membership Chair, Nuhn Monique Boayue as Treasurer, Ellen Sumo as Women League Chairlady, Jacqueline Reeves as Women Wing Assistant Co-Chairlady, Famah F. Roberts as Youth Wing Chair, and Ahmed M. S. Kormalah as Youth Wing Co-Chairman.
Addressing the convention, Chairman Harris reaffirmed the CDC USA Minnesota Chapter’s unflinching support for the common goal of electing former President George Manneh Weah as President of Liberia in 2029. Chairman Harris also launched a $50,000 initial campaign fund to boost the election of former President Weah in 2029, calling on partisans across the United States to mobilize resources for a smooth and effective campaign.
“Our mission is clear, and our resolve is unshakable,” Chairman Harris declared. “We stand united behind former President George Manneh Weah and the vision of a Liberia that respects the rule of law, upholds democratic principles, and prioritizes the welfare of its people.” Chairman Harris also issued a clarion call for collaborative efforts among all CDCIANS across the United States, urging them to work together in strengthening the CDC USA chapter to confront what he described as the failed governance of the Joseph Boakai-led administration.
“The current government in Liberia has shown a blatant disregard for the rule of law,” Chairman Harris stated. “Under President Joseph Boakai, the Liberian people continue to languish in abject poverty while corrupt government officials embezzle state resources with impunity, leaving the country’s coffers empty. Meanwhile, drugs continue to pour into Liberia on an industrial scale, destroying our youth and undermining our nation’s future.”
Chairman Harris called on all CDC members in the United States to unite, organize, and mobilize in preparation for the 2029 elections. “Now is the time for action,” he urged. “We must strengthen our chapter, amplify our voice, and work tirelessly to ensure that the will of the Liberian people is restored. Together, we will reclaim our country and build the prosperous future that every Liberian deserves.”
The convention concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and a collective commitment to advancing the CDC’s mission both in Minnesota and across the United States.
