Lenn Nagbe, Former Maritime Boss, has formally requested a police investigation into the death of Cletus Noah, a former Chief of Office Staff to ex-Finance Minister Samuel Tweah, following a barrage of incendiary accusations and threats against him by the deceased’s brother.
Lenn Eugene Nagbe, a well-known figure in Liberian public life, submitted the letter on May 8 to Inspector General Gregory Coleman of the Liberia National Police, urging authorities to conduct a preliminary investigation to determine whether foul play was involved in Noah’s death. Noah died late on May 4 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in Monrovia, a passing that has shocked political circles and drawn tributes from across the spectrum.
Nagbe revealed that Cain Tozo, the brother of the late Cletus Noah, contacted him via WhatsApp on May 7, making what Nagbe described as “outrageous accusations” implicating him, former Finance Minister Tweah, and others in Noah’s death. Nagbe said Tozo further issued threats, warning him to “wait for the burial” and that “he is coming for me.” Nagbe attached screenshots and a transcript of the conversation as evidence.
“These allegations are both serious and damaging, not only to my reputation, but also present a threat to my personal safety and security,” Nagbe wrote.
Nagbe’s letter calls on the police to contact Cain Tozo directly to “ascertain the source(s) and veracity of his outlandish accusations.” He emphasized that a formal investigation would help establish the facts and provide “much-needed clarity and closure to the grieving family of Mr. Cletus Noah.”
Tributes for Noah, who served as a close aide throughout Tweah’s tenure at the Ministry of Finance, have poured in from both ruling and opposition figures, emphasizing his reputation for loyalty and mentorship. The political community continues to mourn his passing, even as questions swirl around the circumstances of his death.
The Liberia National Police have not commented publicly on the request or confirmed whether an investigation has been launched. Funeral arrangements for Noah are underway, according to family sources.
