Success Dennis, a leading contender for the Chairmanship position of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) USA chapter pending convention in June has issued a statement accusing the Liberian government of widespread oppression and a “silent war” against its own citizens.
In a release titled “The Brutal Face of a Failed Government,” Dennis launched a sweeping condemnation of the current administration, challenging its self-proclaimed “rescue” mandate and cataloging a series of alleged state-backed violent incidents over the past two years.
Dennis cited three specific episodes to support his claims. He pointed to February 2024 in Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County, where he said peaceful protesters demanding better living conditions, jobs, healthcare, and education were met with lethal force, resulting in three deaths. He also referenced 2025 protests over the removal of House Speaker Hon. J. Fonati Koffa, during which, he alleged, citizens were beaten and arrested for defending the Constitution. Additionally, he highlighted an October 2025 civil society demonstration and a student protest at Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), where he claimed unpaid teachers prompted student walkouts that were met with beatings and public humiliation.
“This is no longer incompetence,” Success wrote. “This is cruelty. This is oppression. This is tyranny, full stop.” The statement took a self-reflective turn, acknowledging that Liberians “brought this upon ourselves” through votes and celebratory support for the current leadership. Success argued that the promised “rescue” has instead delivered broken homes, crushed dissent, and unchecked abuse of power.
The political contender concluded with a direct mobilization call ahead of the 2029 elections, urging citizens not to be deceived, silenced, or divided again. “Rise with your anger. Vote with your conscience. And remove this evil from power,” he wrote.
