Wake-Up Call: CDC’s Jerome Saydee Demands Change

In a passionate plea, Jerome Comlemn Saydee, former Vice Chair of the Revolutionary National Youth League, has called on fellow partisans of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) to take back their party. Saydee argues that the CDC’s loss in the November 2023 election was not just a defeat but a wake-up call, highlighting the party’s internal divisions, disconnection from its roots, and leadership issues.

Saydee criticizes the party’s leadership, particularly Acting National Chairman Atty. Augustine Janga Kowo, for failing to convene a National Convention, a crucial step towards healing the party’s rifts and regaining momentum. Instead, Saydee alleges that Kowo has been making unilateral decisions, including appointments and extending the tenure of the executive committee, without consultation or adherence to the party’s constitution.

The former Vice Chair emphasizes the need for a National Convention to revitalize the party, allowing partisans to reflect on their mistakes, heal divisions, and chart a new course. Saydee cites examples of other political parties, such as the Republican in the US and Ghana’s National Democratic Congress, which have successfully regrouped and rebounded after losses.

Saydee urges CDC partisans to demand a National Convention, raise their voices, and take back their party, not just for the leadership but for the grassroots supporters who built the party from the ground up. The call to action emphasizes the importance of internal democracy, accountability, and collective leadership in restoring the CDC’s vitality and credibility.
