Former President George Manneh Weah of Liberia has publicly congratulated His Excellency Alassane Ouattara on his recent re-election as President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. In a formal letter dated November 5, 2025, the former Liberian leader praised President Ouattara’s “decisive victory,” describing it as a “clear recognition of your hard work and dedication to the nation.”
President Weah’s message highlighted the Ivorian leader’s role in fostering a period of “remarkable stability and economic growth” for the neighboring nation. He credited Ouattara’s “steadfast leadership and advocacy for Côte d’Ivoire” as key to this progress. Reflecting on their tenure as contemporary West African leaders, the former President wrote, “I have had the honor of witnessing firsthand your profound commitment to your people and your desire to build a prosperous nation and region.” He further noted that from their “many friendly encounters,” he believes Ouattara is “the right leader to heal and reconcile the country’s various interests.”
The communication also underscored the personal rapport between the two statesmen. President Weah referred to Ouattara as both “a big brother and a friend,” offering his “continued support” for collaborative efforts. Expressing hope for the future, the former President stated his desire to see a continuation of stability and peace in Côte d’Ivoire and looked forward to “the possibility of our working together for the betterment of our people in the near future.”
