Morlu’s ‘We The People’ Vows Mass Resistance in Monrovia After Koffa Resignation

Mulbah Morlu, leader of the fast-rising “We The People” movement, has come out driven by outrage after the resignation of Speaker J. Fonati Koffa—calling it not a resignation, but a coup, fully bankrolled by President Joseph Boakai.

In a fiery statement, Morlu didn’t mince words: “Speaker Koffa’s resignation is no resignation; it’s a coup fully financed by Boakai, and the people will fight back! July 17 will ignite a tidal wave of unstoppable, peaceful defiance.”

According to Morlu, Boakai’s government has not only disrespected the Supreme Court but hijacked the rule of law and bulldozed Liberia’s democratic institutions. “Mr. President, your victory over the rule of law is temporary and suicidal,” Morlu blasted. “It will drain you of every ounce of legitimacy until you’re crawling to resign.”

With Koffa out, the movement says Boakai’s “dictatorship dreams” are now fully exposed. “Liberia is no North Korea! We will not be ruled by a weak and wicked elder craving to be Kim Jong Un,” Morlu warned, triggering an explosion of reactions across social media and opposition strongholds.

We The People is now gearing up for what it calls “The Mother of All Protests”—a nationwide, nonviolent resistance campaign set for July 17. Market women, students, civil servants, motorcyclists, and everyday Liberians are being mobilized. Their message? Enough is enough.

The group’s ten-point demand includes restoring legislative independence, ending political witch-hunts, raising civil servants’ salaries, cleaning up corruption, and defending the Constitution. Committees have already been set up across the counties, with grassroots mobilizers leading the charge.

Morlu says this isn’t about party politics—it’s about reclaiming a stolen future. “This is more than a protest. It’s a battle for the soul of our nation. Liberia’s democracy will never bow—not to Boakai, not to tyranny, not to lies,” he declared.
