“Be a Blessing to Every Heart That Yearns”: Weah’s Christmas Plea to Liberians

Former President George Manneh Weah today called on Liberians to embrace the season as a period of spiritual renewal, national reflection, and charitable action. Weah, who remains the Standard Bearer of the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), extended festive greetings to all citizens “irrespective of your political, religious and social persuasion.”

The message, released on December 24th, framed Christmas as a time to acknowledge divine grace amid national challenges. “Through the years we have faced many trials as a nation and a people, but God has always remained by our side,” Weah stated, urging gratitude expressed through deeds toward “our neighbors and our nation.” The former President emphasized communal responsibility, asking Liberians to “be a blessing to every heart that yearns and every soul that lacks, if you can.” He further called for continued prayers for “a peaceful and prosperous country.”

While addressing the nation broadly, Weah offered a specific acknowledgment to his political base. “Permit me to give a special acknowledgment to partisans of the CDC,” he wrote, encouraging them to “remain resilient; remain steadfast.” He concluded this segment with “Merry Christmas to you and all supporters and sympathizers of the Blue Revolution.” The message closed with a universal blessing: “Merry Christmas to all Liberians… God Bless Us All!” The holiday statement represents Weah’s annual public address during the festive period, blending traditional seasonal themes of faith and charity with a note of political solidarity to his supporters.
