“READ MY LIPS”: CDC-COP Leader Vows Year of Resistance Against Liberian Government

The National Chairman of the CDC–Council of Patriots (CDC-COP), Foday N. Massaquoi, framed the coming year as one of significant national importance. Chairman Massaquoi characterized 2026 as a pivotal moment for concerted patriotic effort, calling for a broad-based national movement dedicated to shaping Liberia’s future path.

The message, directed to “Fellow Patriotic Liberians,” began with an acknowledgment of the people’s resilience. Chairman Massaquoi credited God Almighty for the nation’s crossover into the new year despite prevailing “social and economical deprivation, hunger, and soaring joblessness.” He framed the past year as another survival of what he termed the “Boakai-Koung administration.”

Reflecting on the past two decades, the Chairman presented a stark assessment, noting that from 2005 to 2025, Liberia has remained among the world’s poorest nations. He condemned a prevailing “culture of glorified failure” and “mediocrity celebrated to satisfy narrow partisan appetites,” asserting that “the people deserve better, and history demands more.”

The core of the address was a bold proclamation for the year ahead. “With God above, read my lips,” Chairman Massaquoi stated, “2026 will be a year of genuine patriotic expansion.” He announced the CDC-COP’s mission to penetrate every corridor of the Republic with a “renewed doctrine of people-centered resistance and national renaissance.”

“This year, we choose courage over comfort, reality over half-truth, and country over self,” he declared, signaling a more assertive phase for the opposition movement. Extending Patriotic New Year salutations on behalf of the party’s National Executive Council to Liberians both at home and abroad, Chairman Massaquoi concluded with the movement’s rallying cry: “Together, We Will Protect the State!”

The CDC-Council of Patriots positions this message as a clarion call for a national awakening, setting the stage for a year of intensified political engagement and grassroots mobilization.
