Independence Day Message: CDC-USA Chairman Calls for Purpose and Unity

As Liberia marks its 178th Independence Day, Yahaya Talata Sheriff, Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change USA Chapter (CDC-USA), has issued a stirring message urging Liberians to recommit themselves to the pursuit of unity, justice, and national renewal. Sheriff emphasized that the strength of the CDC-USA lies not in perfection, but in purpose, and called on members to work together towards a common goal.

In his message, Sheriff condemned the Unity Party regime under President Joseph Boakai, describing it as “a tragic emblem of decay, incompetence, and betrayal of the Liberian dream”. He urged CDC-USA members to be a disciplined, united force that can reclaim and rebuild what has been lost, serving as the voice of hope, engine of reform, and shield of the suffering. As the newly elected Chairman of CDC-USA, Sheriff has vowed to prioritize unity, transparency, and reform within the party. His vision includes strengthening the party’s organizational structure, enhancing outreach efforts, and improving member participation. Sheriff also aims to focus on grassroots engagement, particularly youth involvement, and expanding the party’s reach within the diaspora community.

Furthermore, Yahaya’s leadership aims to rebrand CDC-USA as a dynamic force within the Liberian diaspora community. With his proven leadership abilities and extensive background in organizational management, the future looks bright for CDC-USA as it seeks to reestablish itself as a significant player in Liberian politics. Sheriff’s message of unity resonated deeply with party members, many of whom have expressed optimism about the future under his leadership. As CDC- USA embarks on this new chapter, the emphasis will be on building bridges between different factions within the party and ensuring that every member feels valued and included .

Liberia’s Independence Day commemorates the country’s declaration of independence from the American Colonization Society in 1847. The CDC, a prominent political party in Liberia, has been a vocal advocate for democracy, justice, and good governance.
