Sekou Kalasco Damaro, former aide to President George Weah, has successfully constructed a modern bridge in District #3, Kakata, Margibi County. The bridge, valued at US$16,500, was dedicated on July 5, 2025, and connects the Dartu-ta and Mandingo Quarter communities. This significant infrastructure has greatly enhanced the living conditions for local residents, who previously faced considerable challenges due to limited access to other areas. The bridge provides safe and reliable passage, facilitating the transportation of people and goods, and promoting economic activity and social interaction within the community.
The new bridge offers safe and reliable passage for residents, with particular benefits for students and the elderly. It facilitates the transportation of locally produced goods, such as pepper and bitter ball, to the market, thereby stimulating economic activity within the region. With the bridge in place, children can now attend school without the concern of fluctuating water levels, fostering educational opportunities and growth for the community.
During the dedication ceremony, residents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Sekou Kalasco Damaro, commending him for addressing their longstanding challenges. “Sekou, thank you for building our bridge. Today, you have slain our Goliath,” they remarked, underscoring the bridge’s significance in overcoming a major obstacle in their lives. Hon. Sekou Kalasco Damaro emphasized that the project was initiated in response to the dangers and limitations faced by local communities. As a former presidential aide and a proud son of Margibi County, he reaffirmed his commitment to providing essential social services and infrastructure to enhance the quality of life for all residents.
