President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has nominated O. Jay Morris, Jr. as the Superintendent of Margibi County, pending confirmation by the Liberian Senate. In his announcement, President Boakai urged Morris to exemplify diligence, commitment, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty in his service to the country. Prior to his nomination, Morris held key positions in the Unity Party (UP), Margibi chapter, including Youth Chairman and Secretary General. He also played a crucial role in securing Margibi County’s support for the Unity Party during the 2023 elections.

Morris’s nomination follows the elevation of former Superintendent Victoria Worlobah Duncan to the position of Resident Judge of Margibi. Several candidates were considered for the role, but Morris’s experience and popularity in the county made him a strong contender. The nomination has been met with enthusiasm from citizens of Margibi County, who are hopeful for an inclusive leadership that will unify the county and promote development. Congratulations have poured in from notable figures, including Sekou Kalasco Damaro, former aide to President George Weah, and Fred P. Weasah, CEO of Family Brother Company. Mr. Damaro wrote on his Facebook page ‘Congratulations to our new superintendent O. J. Godfavor Morris Jr. I have never interacted with you personally, but a lot of young people who are associated with me say you are a very respectful and humble young man. Margibi is our common patrimony, let us work together for its betterment. Again, congratulations.’ As Morris awaits Senate confirmation, supporters remain optimistic about his potential to lead the county and bring about positive change.
