Restore Hope or Face Collapse: CDC-USA Chairman Warns Boakai

The newly elected Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change in the Americas, Mr. Success A. B. Dennis, has questioned what tangible benefits Liberia has accrued since ascending to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.

He warned that the Joseph Boakai administration must restore hope to Liberians or risk national collapse. In his first major statement since his election, Chairman Dennis said despite Liberia’s elevated international profile, the nation continues to grapple with grave security and sovereignty threats. “Our territorial waters continue to face threats from criminal cartel networks. Our territorial integrity has been challenged by Guinea. Drug trafficking has become an alarming national concern, with persistent allegations and public reports raising questions about whether senior government officials have been adequately investigated and held accountable,” Dennis stated.

The CDC-USA Chairman noted that many Liberians are asking why the country’s seat on the world’s most powerful security body has not translated into greater attention or support for issues affecting national security, sovereignty, and the rule of law. Turning to domestic affairs, Chairman Dennis said the situation at home appears equally troubling, citing the demolition of homes, loss of livelihoods, and what he described as excessive use of force by security personnel against citizens who exercise their right to protest.

“Is this what the government promised under its ‘Rescue’ agenda? Liberians deserve security, justice, economic opportunity, respect for human rights, and a government that protects its citizens,” the statement said. Dennis further warned that a nation cannot prosper when leadership loses sight of its responsibility to the people, adding that “when power is pursued at any cost and public trust is sacrificed for political expediency, the consequences are paid by ordinary citizens.” “These are the indicators when a leader of a nation dances with the devil to gain state power,” he concluded.
