The road to 2029 officially began Saturday night as Success A. B. Dennis was installed as National Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change-USA (CDC-USA) during a historic convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In a packed hall filled with delegates from state chapters across the United States, Dennis, heading the Team Success slate, accepted the mandate to lead the diaspora branch of Liberia’s leading opposition movement. He formally took over from outgoing Officer-in-Charge, Rev. Solomon Manneh Muin, whom he praised for guiding the organization through a critical transitional period.
The installation comes as the party’s Political Leader, former President George Manneh Weah, has reaffirmed his intention to contest the 2029 presidential election. Addressing the convention, Weah called on the diaspora to prepare, and Dennis answered with a comprehensive battle plan anchored on rebirth, reconciliation, and strategic mobilization. At the heart of his acceptance speech was a call for unity. Dennis declared that there were no winners and losers from the convention process, stating, “This victory does not belong to one individual, one chapter, or one campaign. It belongs to every CDCian who believes that together we can build a stronger, more effective, and more respected CDC-USA.” To demonstrate that commitment, he announced that 50 percent of all committee chairmanships and vice-chairmanships will be reserved for qualified CDCians who did not support his campaign.
Looking ahead to 2029, the new chairman unveiled a series of concrete initiatives designed to bring Weah back to power. He announced the creation of a dedicated International Engagement Program to be headquartered in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, which will engage the U.S. Congress, the Department of State, diplomatic missions, and policy institutions to advance Liberia’s interests and the CDC’s agenda.
He further announced the establishment of an annual face-to-face CDC-USA Leadership and Policy Conference, with the inaugural edition tentatively scheduled for August to September in Iowa. As part of the 2029 machinery, Dennis also launched the CDC-USA 2029 Vote Protection Support Program, an ambitious effort to mobilize and support at least 300 CDCians from the United States to return home for lawful election support activities.
To strengthen the party’s grassroots structure, Dennis disclosed a major technological push, including a fundraising drive to procure 15 membership ID card machines to decentralize party registration in Liberia and 75 Samsung smartphones for district coordinators to enhance communication and coordination on the ground. Beyond party politics, Dennis used the platform to address pressing national concerns, warning that cocaine trafficking and transnational organized crime have become a national emergency. “This is not merely a law enforcement challenge — it is a national emergency that threatens our youth, weakens public confidence in institutions, and damages Liberia’s international reputation,” he said, while pledging that CDC-USA will support lawful anti-narcotics efforts and continue to advocate for due process and rule of law regarding sanctions affecting CDC officials.
The convention opened with a moment of silence for fallen members and revolutionary figures of the CDC movement, with Dennis paying tribute to former President Weah and ordinary Liberians who believed in hope, opportunity, and democratic participation. He closed with a rallying call for delegates to return to their states as ambassadors of Rebirth and architects of Solidarity, declaring, “Tonight, there is only one winner — the mighty Congress for Democratic Change.”
