Varmah Bobby Gray, Chief of Office Staff in the Office of Senator Nathaniel F. McGill, is leading a two-week educational fact-finding mission in Paris, France, in collaboration with the Liberian UNESCO Paris Mission. The mission aims to bolster Liberia’s education sector through international cooperation and knowledge sharing. Gray met with Liberia’s Ambassador to France, Teeko Yorlay, to reaffirm the Liberian Senate’s commitment to global educational partnerships. Representing the Senate Committee on Education and Public Administration, Gray underscored the significance of international collaboration in advancing Liberia’s education reform agenda.
The meeting discussions centered on key areas crucial for transforming Liberia’s educational landscape. These areas include enhancing the curriculum and promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to equip students with relevant skills. Additionally, the discussions emphasized the importance of training teachers and administrators to improve education delivery. The integration of innovative technologies to enhance learning outcomes was also a key focus. Furthermore, aligning educational policies with the objectives outlined in Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals, which emphasizes quality education for all, was highlighted as a vital component of Liberia’s educational transformation.
Ambassador Yorlay pledged to facilitate ongoing dialogue with UNESCO and international education experts to shape Liberia’s education future. This partnership aims to improve access, equity, and quality in the Liberian education system, ultimately contributing to the country’s development.
