Respect the Supreme Court, Uphold the Rule of Law

“We join voice with thousands of Marylanders calling on the Maryland County Legislative Caucus to respect the opinion of the Supreme Court and return to carrying out their duties under the Speakership of J. Fonati Koffa. The people of Maryland County have always been law-abiding citizens.

They expect their leaders to lead the way through the path of respect for the rule of law. Lawmakers from Maryland County that have been siding against the one guiding book of our republic have not been representing the interest and will of Marylanders who oppose their actions. Marylanders expect their leaders to seek their interest and represent what they stand for—in this case, standing for the rule of law.

Now that the Supreme Court, known as the final arbiters of justice, has explicitly made clear to the full extent of the understanding of all Liberians, Isaac Doe urges the Maryland Legislative Caucus to put the beliefs, interests, and characteristics of Marylanders above their personal interests. It is now time for the leaders of Maryland to return to constitutional order.

The act of consistently siding, for personal interests, against the constitution is a betrayal of the trust Marylanders placed in them. Marylanders are decent people who expect nothing less from their lawmakers but doing what is right. As the ruling was made clear today, we want to call on all our people to respect the decision of the highest court. We believe that this is the right thing to do for the sake of our one country!

The people of Maryland County look up to our lawmakers to direct them. They look up to our lawmakers to make decisions that benefit them. Disrespecting the rule of law does not benefit the people of Maryland. We therefore believe it will be in the best interest of every Marylander for our lawmakers to show to the world that Maryland County’s principles fall in line with the principles of a lawful state.” – Isaac Doe, Former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports and Prominent Son of Maryland County
